Spotify has announced the expansion of Countdown Pages to all eligible artists, following a successful trial period with a select group of musicians. This feature is designed to help artists build momentum leading up to a release, offering fans a one-stop destination to pre-save upcoming albums, preview track lists, watch exclusive Clips, purchase merch, and watch the countdown to release day.
What Are Countdown Pages?
Countdown Pages are Spotify’s ultimate prerelease destination, offering a suite of features that engage fans and drive anticipation for upcoming music. With Countdown Pages, fans can:
- Presave the Album: Ensure that your new music is automatically saved to fans’ libraries the moment it’s released.
- Preview Track Lists: Give fans a sneak peek at the tracks that will be included in the release.
- Watch Clips: Share short, engaging videos that offer a behind-the-scenes look or teaser for the upcoming release.
- Purchase Merch: Offer your fans exclusive merchandise related to your release.
- Countdown to Release: Build excitement as fans watch the timer count down to your release date.
Building Momentum with Countdown Pages
Countdown Pages are an essential tool for artists looking to maximize the impact of their music launches. Spotify’s data shows that, on average, nearly 70% of users who pre-save an album stream it in the week following its release.
How to Create Your Countdown Page
To find out if you qualify, check the eligibility requirements here.
- Log in to Spotify for Artists, navigate to the “Music” section, then select “Upcoming.”
- Once Label Engine has delivered the release metadata, you’ll see the option to create a Countdown Page. Please select your release.
- Click on “Get started” to begin setting up your Countdown Page.
- Add engaging Clips and tag any merch you want to feature.
- Make sure everything looks perfect, then publish your Countdown Page.
Once published, your Countdown Page will be live on Spotify, and fans can start pre-saving your release, watching Clips, and exploring other content. You can edit your Countdown Page until the release goes live.
Please note: Countdown Pages currently cannot be used for releases with split right releases or singles, but Spotify hopes to enable this in the near future.
