Ready to monetize your music on SoundCloud? This guide will walk you through the two methods for setting up monetization using Label Engine: opting into feed delivery or manual monetization. Start earning royalties from your music by choosing the monetization option that best fits your needs.
1. Opting Into SoundCloud Feed Delivery with Label Engine
Using Label Engine’s feed delivery allows you to distribute your music directly to SoundCloud alongside other platforms. This option is perfect for labels who prefer automation, but there are a few key points to understand before you get started:
Important Considerations:
- Artist Accounts Only: Distribution is only available for Artist accounts, not Label accounts.
- One Artist Profile Per Track: For tracks with multiple primary artists, the release will live on only one profile. Be sure that the Soundcloud profile you want to distribute to is the only one linked to your release.
- Territorial Availability: Distributed tracks are only fully playable in regions where SoundCloud supports monetization. The territories where users will be able to listen to the tracks are: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Finland, France, UK, USA, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Mexico, Norway, New Zealand, Portugal, and Sweden. In non-monetized territories, tracks will appear as previews.
- Metadata Limitations: After your release goes live, you cannot directly edit metadata like track names, artwork, or release dates. Any updates must be requested through Label Engine.
How to Get Started:
To opt in for feed delivery, please reach out to support@label-engine.com with the following information for all artists you will be distributing for:
- Artist Name
- SoundCloud Profile URL
Once submitted, Label Engine will enable feed delivery for all future releases.
2. Manual Uploads and Monetization
If you prefer greater control over your content, manual uploads paired with Label Engine’s rightsholder network could be the right option for you. This method allows you to upload tracks directly to SoundCloud and Label Engine ensures they’re monetized in all eligible territories.
How Manual Monetization works:
- Upload Your Track: Add your release to your Artist or Label profile on SoundCloud.
- Fill in Metadata: Include required fields such as the ISRC and artist name when entering track details. (See the screenshot below for an example.)
- Contact us at support@label-engine.com with the link to your uploaded release. We will ensure your release is claimed for monetization in all territories.
How to Get Started:
If you’d like to set this up, please message us at support@label-engine.com with the SoundCloud profile(s) you would like to be added to our rightsholder network.
What Is the Rightsholder Network?
The rightsholder network is a group of SoundCloud accounts managed by Label Engine for royalty collection and monetization. By joining this network, Label Engine can claim your royalties and ensure your music is earning in every eligible territory.
