We are very pleased to announce a deal with Soundcloud for “fingerprinting” on their site. As you know by now Soundcloud is one of the most popular music sites in the world and one of the most used tools of promotion for labels and artists. Thats the reason we are requiring an opt-in option for this service as it may cause some issues for your artists.
To make the story short, it will basically block the tracks uploaded by anyone not whitelisted by us, including artists (We can only whitelist the label’s soundcloud pages). However, there is a process for them to appeal the blocking and Soundcloud officials made it a point to let us know the process is quick and easy, they can have the music unblocked within hours.
With that in mind please read the following information Soundcloud want us to share with you and you can make the decision you think is best for your label. (Information on how to opt-in at the bottom)

Label Engine announces its partnership with SoundCloud.
• Delivery of content for fingerprinting
This means we will be delivering your catalogue to SoundCloud for content fingerprinting. The purpose of this is to stop those that have no right uploading your content to their SoundCloud profiles. Content which is recognized as part of the Label Engine catalogue gets blocked when uploaded to a SoundCloud profile that has not been “whitelisted” by us (info on whitelisting below). You will be able to unblock content if you find it is being used legitimately.
• Rights management tools
– Whitelisting
Currently we can whitelist SoundCloud profiles belonging to our distributed labels: this allows account holders to upload their own content without having it blocked by SoundCloud’s content ID system. To obtain whitelisted status please contact your support representative.
– Takedowns
If you find a profile that contains your content without having obtained the necessary licenses we can also issue a takedown notice using SoundCloud’s CMS system.
• Access to exclusive partner tools:
– Scheduling
You will be able to schedule when your content is to go live on SoundCloud. For example, if you are unavailable to manually make a track public you can upload the content and schedule it to go live at a specified date and time.
– Geoblocking
You can lock your content so it can only be viewable, and played within certain territories. Useful if you have staggered release dates in different territories, or if you only own the rights for a certain territory.
– Domain locking
You can lock your players / widgets to specific websites so they cannot be shared and played from any other websites. Go to http://domainlocking.soundcloud.com and log in with your account info, you can set limitations so that your content can only played from the domain/s you allow.
These partner tools (scheduling, domain locking, geoblocking) will be available on your label/s SoundCloud channel shortly after we have whitelisted your profile.
