One of the main goals of Label Engine is not only to provide top notch tools for independent labels to use but also, in the case of our distributed labels, to look after their best interests. We believe as distributors we are more than just aggregators of music, we also have the responsibility of being the “middle man” negotiator and our priority is to make sure our labels and artists get the royalties they have earned.
We have had several talks with representatives from Dance-Tunes to collect royalties that date back to July 2012. We initially stopped the deliveries to the store a couple of months ago, after being promised a payment from the store, we decided to not officially announce anything in hopes to have everything back to normal in no time.
After all the empty promises we have officially decided to stop deliveries to Dance-Tunes until we can resolve this issue, if within a fair amount of time we still don’t get this resolved we will be forced to request a full takedown of our catalog and in an extreme case seek a legal solution.
