Escape Media Group’s owned “Grooveshark” has announced today it has shut down its streaming service immediately as part of a settlement agreement reached on a copyright lawsuit they have lost against major record labels. Which includes removing all content and giving up control of their website and any other assets.
We were one of their original partners and our music was legally licensed to the company but unfortunately it seems they made the mistake of not securing legal deals with all the content available in their service.
We have received payments for the usage of our content up until Quarter 4 2014 and it remains unknown right now what will happen with the remaining royalties owed to us, we will continue to monitor the situation and await news from their team on what the next steps will be. We will update you accordingly.
