We’ve added some advanced options for those of you that want more control over the genre each track is shown in. This is relevant both for our Distribution customers and users of our Promo system.
We have split the genre into three fields as follows:
Beatport Genre – This is the genre that the track will appear in for EDM oriented stores such as Beatport, Juno and Trackitdown
Itunes Genre – This is the genre that the track will appear in for Commercially oriented stores such as Itunes, Spotify and Deezer
Custom Genre – This is the genre tag that will be applied for your track within the Label Engine system and will appear on your promos and shared tracks.
By default you are given a simplified view of genres – you can pick your genre and we will automatically select the appropriate Beatport, Itunes and Custom genre for you. For example, if you choose ‘Electro House’, we will select ‘Electro House’, ‘Dance’ and ‘Electro House’ for the Beatport, Itunes and Custom Genres. If you choose ‘HipHop’, we will select ‘HipHop’, ‘HipHop/Rap’, ‘HipHop’ as the Beatport, Itunes and Custom Genres.
Clicking the ‘More Genres’ link will allow you to specify the three genre types yourself. This is useful if you want more control over your genres for example if you are listing a Trap track, in which case you may decide to choose ‘HipHop’, ‘Dance’ and ‘Trap’ as your Beatport, Itunes and Custom Genres. You may also decide that you want more specific genre tags when listing your tracks on Label Engine, in which case you may select ‘Electro House’ as your Beatport genre but list ‘Complextro’, ‘Big-Room’ of ‘Moombhaton’ as your Custom Genre. And finally, if you are listing non-EDM music our new genre options give you access to all Itunes Genres such as Country, Rock, Alternative etc.
Clicking the ‘Cancel’ link will return to the one genre option and we will make the three genre selections for you automatically based on your chose genre.
