Great news for not only music fans living in China but also record labels and music producers. Apple announced last week that it has expanded to China, one of the biggest and most competitive markets in the world.
The announcement is well received, although it will only cover the Apple Music service and not the download store iTunes. Like with the initial launch of the streaming service in the U.S., Chinese fans will enjoy a three month free trial before they have to decide to pay to keep the service.
This comes at a good time also, in August the Wall Street Journal reported that the Chinese Government believes the crackdown on piracy is working with more than 2.2 million unlicensed songs removed from online platforms.
It will be great to see the kind of impact a massive brand like Apple will bring to the Chinese market and how it will benefit independent record labels and artists. We are excited!
Note: As a Label Engine distributed label/artist you content is automatically added to the Chinese territory, so no further acknowledgement or steps are necessary on your part.
