Amazon is excited to share that Custom Playlist Cover Art and Playlist Descriptions are now live on Amazon Music for iOS and Android worldwide.

Amazon Music customers can now personalize their playlists with:

  • Custom Cover Art — Upload an image directly from a device’s photo library or capture a new one in-app.
  • Playlist Descriptions — Add up to 300 characters (including emojis) to provide context, branding, or editorial commentary on any playlist.

What This Means for Partners

This launch is part of a broader effort to expand the playlist feature set on Amazon Music and make the platform more powerful for all partners — labels, artists, festivals, and brands alike. These features were created to unlock new ways to elevate your playlist presence on Amazon Music through:

  • Brand & Visual Identity — Bring playlists to life with custom imagery that reflects your brand, event, or artistic identity to create a more polished, recognizable experience for listeners.
  • Editorial Voice & Storytelling — Use descriptions to add editorial context, spotlight featured artists, promote new releases, tease upcoming festival lineups, or tell the story behind a playlist to drive deeper listener engagement and discovery.
  • Festival & Event Playlists — Create immersive, branded playlist experiences tied to festivals, tours, album launches, or cultural moments with custom artwork and descriptions that capture the experience.

  1. Open any playlist you manage in Amazon Music
  2. Tap the “pencil icon” on the playlist page, or select “Edit” from the playlist context menu.
