Important New Requirements for Track Credits on Label Engine

Label Engine Announcements, Distribution, General, Help, News, Tips

As part of an industry-wide push for more accurate and transparent metadata, Apple Music now requires complete contributor credits for all tracks delivered to their platform. This includes tagging every artist and contributor with specific roles.

To help you meet these new standards and ensure your music stays compliant and visible, we’ve updated how contributor information is entered on Label Engine.

What’s Changing in Label Engine

To meet these new requirements, we’ve made several updates to the Client Listing section of the Distribute Track page. You’ll now be required to:

  • Credit all clients involved in a track as an artist or contributor
  • Assign roles from newly organized categories: Performance, Production, and Composition
  • Ensure at least one role is selected from each category before you can submit a release

In addition to Apple’s standards, we’ve also addressed client feedback:

  • Removed the redundant Artist List field
  • Made it easier to add Featured Artists without workarounds
  • Increased the limit of number of group members beyond 3

What You Need to Do

All new releases must now include complete credits to be delivered. We’ve created a simple, guided workflow to make this process clear and easy to follow. Detailed instructions can be found here.

Please note that you are not required to update past releases with complete credits; however, if you make changes to an older release, you will be prompted to provide the necessary contributor details during editing.

We’re excited to help you deliver better, more complete metadata, and ensure your music gets the credit it deserves.
