1. Spotify in Talks to Acquire SoundCloud<\/strong>
\n– via Variety\/Financial Times<\/em><\/p>\n

According to a report from Financial Times and later doubled down by Variety, the biggest rumor of the last 30 days or so is that Spotify is very much interested and in advanced talks to acquire music platform Soundcloud. Soundcloud has had their ups and downs in the last couple of years with more and more users complaining about their music being removed, even in case where they are the owners of the content themselves and according to whispers within the company, their subscription offering, Soundcloud Go is not doing as well as expected. 2. Apple Admits It Did Too Much With Apple Music<\/strong>

4. Amazon beefs up its music offerings<\/strong>

Amazon launched an on-demand music streaming service called \u201cAmazon Music Unlimited,\u201d charging $7.99 per month for Prime members and $9.99 per month for non-Prime members. The launch represents a continuation of Amazon\u2019s strategy to extract more value from existing Prime members, improve the value proposition of Prime to entice nonmembers, and drive sales of Echo devices. 6. iHeartMedia to launch paid music-streaming service <\/strong>

Terrestrial radio giant iHeartMedia will announce the launch of a major paid streaming service according to The New York Post. The paid streaming service, the first of its kind for a traditional radio outfit, will include a $5-a-month ad-free radio station and a $10-a-month on-demand music service, according to people familiar with iHeartMedia\u2019s plans. 7. Spotify Says It Will Invest More in Original Content<\/strong>
\n– via The Wall Street Journal<\/em><\/p>\n

Spotify AB executives argued Tuesday against signing artists to exclusive deals but said the music-streaming service is planning to invest more in \u201coriginal content\u201d in the near future. Spotify\u2019s chief strategy officer and chief content officer, Stefan Blom, said that over the next six to 12 months, the company would invest more in original videos and marketing events with artists.Read More<\/a><\/p>\n
